Detox

I have been helping people detox from psychiatric medications for over 30 years.

In that time, I have learned so much about how the mind works and a little about the medicines. I say a little because doctors don't really know how they work. If that's alarming, it kinda should be! I have a diploma in pharmacology, and what I do know is that psychiatric medicines don't work the way most people think they do.

In my work supporting clients, we dive into all these topics so that they can become fully informed and supported.

First, I always ask my clients to get a detox plan from a medical professional. If your doctor does not support you coming off your medication, then please try another doctor who does. If none are available, try your pharmacist, as they are super qualified and often more informed. Or please contact me and I can recommend a describing MD specialist in your area.

Detoxing can be challenging, and on those days when you step down to the lower dose, you need support. Having someone to remind you that it's going to pass, who understands chemical anxiety and is there for you, is crucial on those very bumpy days.

Here are the options I offer to help you detox

  • 1:1 coaching, daily, weekly, or to use whenever you need

  • Phone consultations for personal support

  • Mentoring via WhatsApp - you are never alone

  • Membership group for an amazingly supportive community of like-minded people

  • Any combination of these

How long will it take?

That's a hard one to answer, as everyone is different. It also depends on the medication, how long you have been on it, and the dose. This is why we need a medical professional who is fully informed to help you. When you speak to your doctor, make sure to ask for a Hyperbolic tapering plan! If they are not familiar with what this is, then please reach out, and I'd be happy to inform you both.

Man on His Phone

The most extreme reactions to antidepressants, including suicide and violence, are more common when the dosage of an antidepressant changes or when starting or discontinuing the medication.

Sometimes these reactions are caused by switching from one type of antidepressant to another. Please reach out if you have nay questions before changing anything.

As my teacher, Dr. Bill Pettit MD, explained to me, if you take away the medicine and haven't addressed the original fears and insecurities, then they will still be there if not worse. So in my coaching, I help you understand all these issues and new ideas so that as the meds go, your Innate Wellbeing will surface right when and where you need it. It didn't go anywhere, it's just been covered up for a long time and you will see that have all the courage and resilience you need to do this!

"I know that you have all the courage and wisdom you need to solve all your problems. You just need pointing in the right direction, back to your own innate wellbeing!"
